Flange nuts can be used as really interesting beads. Flange nuts are available in a variety of metals and colors, including brass and bronze. This tutorial will explain how to make a flange nut choker.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions
Things You'll Need:
2 flange nuts
large focal bead
leather
Step 1
Cut a 24 inch piece of heavy leather or other stringing material of your choice to use in your flange nut choker.
Step 2
Slide the focal bead onto the leather of your flange nut choker until it is centered. hand made lamp work glass beads are a great choice to use as a focal bead, but any interesting bead can be used.
Step 3
Tie an overhand knot on either side of the focal bead to hold it in place.
Step 4
Slide a flange nut onto either side of the focal bead. Be sure the flange faces the focal bead so that it frames the bead.
Step 5
Tie an overhand knot after each flange nut to secure each flange nut in place.
Step 6
Make a loop on one end of the leather of your flange nut choker and finish it with an overhand knot. You can add a drop of glue to hold the knot. Trim the excess leather or stringing material.
Step 7
Make another loop on the other end of the leather of your flange nut choker and feed on a clasp before tying the knot. Again add a drop of glue, if desired, and trim the leather.
