Nuts & Bolts Motorcycle (January 20, 2010)
A few months ago, I happened across a website called Brown Dog Welding. Josh, the owner, makes really great metal sculptures and sells them in his Etsy shop.
Some of the coolest things that he makes are metal motorcycles that are made out of nuts and bolts. When he gets done, they look like the real thing albeit only 8 inches long.
After browsing through his site, I got the bright idea to try to make one of my own. After all, I had nuts, bots, round bar, and plumbing pipe. Should be easy, right?
Not. At. All.
I did get it finished after several hours of fighting with it and hurting myself in new and exciting ways.
I am pretty proud of the way it turned out, and it has a spot on my office desk for the foreseeable future.
That said, from now on I think I'll leave the precise, intricate, small-scale, detailed welding to the pros like Josh!
