Frame bolts, also known as hex flange screws, are a one-piece hex-washer head bolt with a flat bearing surface. Frame bolts are commonly used on truck frames, giving them their name. The flange eliminates the need for a washer and helps to compensate when holes are misaligned. When used with a Grade-Gt lock nut, the frame bolt system resists bolt slippage by distributing the clamp load over a wide area.
